Facial Wrinkle Treatment Abroad
Information about Injectable Fillers Abroad
What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are substances that are injected just below the surface of the skin to fill in lines, wrinkles, and scars. Unlike face lifts that stretch the skin, fillers add volume for a more natural youthful appearance. Fillers can also increase the fullness of the lips and lessen the downward slant of the corner of lips. The most common areas treated are the smile lines around the nose and mouth, fine lines above the mouth, frown lines between the eyes, and acne scars.

There are two classes of Fillers: Permanent and non-permanent:
- Permanent Fillers
- Silicone Dermal Fillers: The use of silicone fillers has been controversial in the past because of the risk of bumpy scars called granulomas that can form even decades after treatment. The FDA has not approved silicone for this particular use. One advantage of silicone is you do not repeat treatments once the desired look has been achieved.
- Collagen Fillers: Collagen is an abundant natural protein found in the body that provides structural support to skin, muscle, tendons and bone. In the skin, fibers of collagen are woven together to provide texture, resiliency and shape. Collagen is one of the substances lost during the normal aging process. The main risk of collagen injection is an allergic reaction. Some of the collagen products are made from animals and require allergy testing prior to use. The effect lasts between 3-6 months.
- Non-permanent Fillers which are quite safe to use. There are a variety of temporary dermal fillers currently in use, the most common is hyaluronic acid. Temporary fillers are absorbed by the body over time, usually in 6-9 months and require repeated treatments to maintain the effect.
Hyaluronic Acid is natural cosmetic dermal filler that is not made from animals. The fact that it is non animal based decreases the risk of animal based disease transmission or allergic reaction. No pre-testing is required. Hyaluronic Acid has been approved by the FDA for use in moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. The effect lasts approximately six months.
Is Hyaluronic Acid safe?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body and therefore it also dissolves naturally with time and is integrated into your body’s tissues. The synthetic, biodegradable hyaluronic acid known as Restylane or Téosyal has been used in Europe, Canada and in the United States.
Is Injectable Fillers right for you?
Injectable cosmetic fillers can minimize fine lines and wrinkles, deep folds around the nose and mouth, and crow’s feet, while providing volume to enhance the contour of jawlines, cheekbones and lips.
Where can I have injections?
- Smile lines: The lines running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth.
- Frown lines: The area between the eyebrows
- Smoker's lines: The vertical lines across the top lip
- Marionette lines: The lines at the corners of the mouth.
- Crows feet: The lines at the outside corners of the eyes.
- Worry lines: The lines across the forehead.
- Lips: To fill out and better define the line of your lips.

Your Injectable Fillers Consultation
The initial consultation is very important. Your surgeon will need a complete medical history. This will include information about any medical conditions, drug allergies, previous operations and medication you are taking, if any. She will examine your face.
Each patient is different, so your surgeon will discuss with you the best option after examining you.
Additional Information about Injectable Fillers Abroad
Preparation for the Injectable Fillers procedure
It is best to avoid alcohol at least one week prior to treatment. Aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications should be stopped two weeks before treatment as well in order to reduce bruising.
The Injectable Fillers procedure
The treatment is performed by injecting the filler under your skin. Since no pre-test is needed, your procedure can usually be done in less than one hour. Many patients like the added comfort provided with an anesthetic cream, while others prefer an anesthetic block. This makes the treatment relatively painless.

After the Injectable Fillers procedure
Following your injections, normal activities can be resumed immediately. Discomfort is minimal. The treatment site may have a little swelling, which may last a few hours. There may be some slight bruising which can be covered with make-up. If the lips are treated, initial swelling and tenderness may occur within the first several days, but subsides after two or three days.
How long does Injectable Fillers last?
Depending on the area treated, correction can last up to six months or longer. The repeat maintenance treatment is not usually required for approximately 6- 8 months or longer. Unlike permanent implants, Hyaluronic Acid always leaves you a choice when the effect of the treatment has worn off. A touch-up can be performed any time you like after the previous treatment.
Injectable Fillers risks and possible complications
Each filler is unique and has its own risk profile.
There is widespread consensus that, although they may seem appealing, permanent fillers are not to be recommended lightly as they sometimes induce adverse reactions which are very difficult if not totally impossible to treat without surgery.
For all fillers, risks include allergic reactions, irregularities or lumpiness, over- or under-correction, asymmetry and infection. Permanently visible lumps or late reactions with some permanent fillers can result.
Your New Look after Injectable Fillers Abroad
Hyaluronic Acid is a safe and relatively pain-free injectable cosmetic filler designed to refresh your youthful glow by restoring volume, minimizing the appearance of fine wrinkles, and eliminating deep folds around your nose and mouth.
Fillers can help you turn back time and give you a more youthful appearance.
